What You Don’t Know Can Hurt You: the Danger of Postponing Dental Work

Are you ready for Labor Day Weekend?  It is our last real break before September kicks off, filling up schedules with school, sports, the change of seasons, and eventually holidays and everything else!  Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s stop and evaluate our situation.  Do you have a dental issue – a minor toothache you are hoping will go away, a postponed maintenance visit – which you have been delaying?

Patients who stay on schedule are definitely VIP!

This may sound stressful, but it does not have to be.  If you are a proactive patient, you will avoid a great deal of stress, as well as pain, which may come from ignoring a dental issue and allowing it to develop into an actual emergency.  If you have a toothache that you have been tolerating, it could erupt into a real problem for you, and at the worst possible time – on vacation, Open House at your child’s school, a family outing, your grandson’s little league game, etc.  Even putting off coming in for your periodontal (or general dentist) maintenance with a hygienist is hazardous to your overall health.  Bacteria will continue to grow and spread and may lead to Periodontal Disease, which can lead to tooth and eventually bone loss.  Our hygienists also routinely check you for oral cancer with the use of a device called the VELscope.  Catching signs of this condition early is a key factor in recovery and survival.

You are never too young to take your oral health seriously.

You are never too young to take your oral health seriously.

Do not wait for a minor problem to become a major problem.  Make room in your schedule now to take care of these seemingly tolerable issues before you need to put your life on hold to take care of a dental emergency.  It is never too early to improve your smile, your oral health, and your whole-body health!  Call your general dentist or our office today!

The Team at Farber Center wishes you a wonderful and safe holiday weekend, along with a great start to Fall!
