Spring is in the air…at last! This was a cold and tough winter. I am sure we are all happy to bid goodbye to the snow, wind and ice. Long Island Periodontal Professionals is hoping for a peaceful spring and a fruitful summer. We send our wishes of good will, freedom and solace to all mankind.

Health Update
“Oral Cancer Screening Awareness Month”

In the pursuit and commitment of maintaining good health, we are so pleased to announce June 2003 as our first annual “Oral Cancer Screening Awareness Month.” Our hopes are to increase the numbers of oral cancer screenings performed in the offices of our referring doctors. Additionally, this will help all of our patients to understand the potential risks and the critical value of early detection of oral and oropharyngeal cancers. Please visit your general dentist for an oral cancer screening, if you have not already done so this year.

Thank you for browsing our web site. We will be posting statistics and educational information relative to oral and oropharyngeal cancers.

Also, a reminder of our NO-COST IMPLANT CONSULTATION. We are happy to provide evaluations for you, your families and your friends.

To Our Valued Patients

Well... Spring is finally here. It’s time for sunshine and rejuvenation. We hope your gardens and tax returns are green. In February, many of our referring offices and their staffs participated in Staff Appreciation Day. We were all whisked away to Jillian’s, which was the “secret” destination. It was a wonderful day of games, food and fun. Grown-ups need a “play day” every now and then too!

Technology & Clinical News

We are very excited about the addition of the perioscope to our practice. Perioscopy is a new development in endoscopy technology utilized for the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease. This fiberoptic imaging system allows visualization of tissue and tooth structure below the gumline. We can illuminate areas of deep pockets and root involvement enabling us to directly see the areas being scaled and root planed. This approach to treatment allows for minimal trauma and invasion of tissue and can, in some cases, prevent the need for surgery. Comments and feedback from both patients and clinicians have been outstanding. Please feel free to contact our office if you have any questions about this new and innovative technology.
